Concerts will begin in July: here is the program of the 24th "Cello Fan" cello festival in Callian

This will be the 24th edition of the Cello Fan Festival , which, due to the pandemic, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Twenty-one concert cellists, or members of national and regional orchestras, will be gathered around the festival's coordinator, cellist Frédéric Audibert, for six concerts over a lively musical weekend.

Three days during which the guest soloists will offer an eclectic and original program, but tinged with nostalgia and tenderness because the festival is dedicated to Charles Reneau and Roland Audibert, without whom it would not exist. The two formed a close-knit pair of teachers who held the cello class at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional (CRR) in Nice for years, bringing generations of cellists to the top of their art.

Conductors highlighted

Frédéric Audibert, artistic coordinator of this festival, promises beautiful musical moments inspired by three great conductors that Roland Audibert particularly appreciated. The first concert on Friday, July 4 at 8:30 p.m. in the church of Callian will bring together works inspired by the figure of the famous conductor Carlos Kleiber, Lachner, Tchaikovsky, Mainardi, Schubert, Rossini, and Viennese Waltzes, all performed by the Cello Fan cello orchestra made up of guest soloists.

On Saturday, July 5th at 3:30 pm, the church of Mons will be dedicated to the theme "The Virtuoso Cellist" with Popper, Rachmaninov and Shostakovich . At 8 pm , in the church of Callian, "Wind in the Strings" with the soloist and famous Duduk player, Gevorg Dabaghyan, for traditional Armenian music and the Cello Fan cello orchestra.

At 10:15 p.m. in the Chapelle des Pénitents in Callian, a chamber music concert will follow, under the direction of conductor Arturo Toscanini , an evening program on the theme of the requiem formed by those of Verdi, Sculyhorpe, Popper and an excerpt from the sonata for violin and cello by Maurice Ravel and the Kol Nidrei by Max Bruch by the cellist Florent Audibert . Please note, for this concert the capacity is small and it is advisable to book.

For Sunday, July 6 , at 11:30 a.m. in the Penitents' Chapel, "Mystère Bach", and at 6 p.m. in the church of Callian, Léonard Bernstein, the 3rd conductor highlighted for this festival, with Dotzaueur, Schmidt, Rachmaninov, Moussorgsky, Ravel, Grieg, Bernstein, Villa-Lobos on the program.
